Are You Preparing for Jesus?

written on February 18, 2022 at 7:36 a.m.

When you awake in the morning and begin your day, prepare as if Jesus were physically coming to visit and walk with you throughout your day. How would you dress? How would your house look? How would you think? How would you treat people? Actually, this is how you should think daily. Jesus is not physically with us, but the word of God teaches us who Jesus is and His ways. The holy spirit is here to guide, comfort and keep us on the righteous path. Does Jesus occupy your mind? If he did, there would be no room for hatred, envy, malice, backstabbing, etc. because the holy spirit cannot abide in an unclean temple. Sin is enmity against God.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

Philippians 4:8-9

We are not perfect, but we die daily to sin by sanctifying ourselves (by “holding fast to what is good and abstaining from every form of evil” and allowing the “God of peace to sanctify us completely.” We should be striving to be more and more like Jesus every day. Be truthful because God knows our hearts.

For God has not appointed us to suffer wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with Him. Therefore encourage and build one another up, just as you are already doing. But we ask you, brothers, to acknowledge those who work diligently among you, who preside over you in the Lord and give you instruction. In love, hold them in highest regard because of their work. Live in peace with one another. And we urge you, brothers, to admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, and be patient with everyone. Make sure that no one repays evil for evil. Always pursue what is good for one another and for all people. Rejoice at all times. Pray without ceasing. Give thanks in every circumstance, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. Do not extinguish the Spirit. Do not treat prophecies with contempt, but test all things. Hold fast to what is good. Abstain from every form of evil. Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely, and may your entire spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The One who calls you is faithful, and He will do it.

1 Thessalonians 5:9-24
