Cleansing Power of Jesus’ Blood
written on Tuesday, April 22, 2014
I woke up this morning and knelt to pray. While praying I asked God’s forgiveness for all my sins in Jesus’ name, and got happy thinking about how faith in the powerful name of Jesus is all I need to cleanse me from the filth of sin, and these thoughts came to mind…
Naturally speaking, when we have something precious to us that was once clean and is now dirty, whether it be an item of clothing like a white suit, or a car or our home, we try to find the best cleansers on the market or put the suit in the best cleaners to get it as clean as possible trying to restore it to its former state. Spiritually speaking, man was in a clean sinless state before Adam and Eve sinned in that Garden of Eden and caused the fall of man into a dirty sinful state disconnected from God. Man had to continually bring sacrifices of the blood of animals as atonement for our sins. Unblemished blood needed to be shed for the atonement of the sins of the world. God sent his son Jesus to become our lamb sacrifice to shed that unblemished blood needed to wash away and remove the stench and stain of sin to restore us back to the state man was in before we fell from communion with God in the Garden of Eden.
We are all born dirtied in sin and need a cleanser to remove our guilty stains. No earthly substance can clean and restore our sin-sick soul…not drugs, sex, power nor money. These earthly pleasures may seem to satisfy temporarily, but only God can satisfy you permanently. What can wash away our sins? Nothing but the blood of Jesus. What can make us whole again? Nothing but the blood of Jesus. Jesus’ blood is not like earthly cleansers. Top Job may leave a stain and Spic and Span may miss a spot. But Jesus washes our sinful stains white as snow and throws them into the sea of forgetfulness. Once we’ve asked God for forgiveness of our sins and accepted his plan of salvation by faith, we must believe it is done.
Do not let the enemy haunt you by bringing up the same past sins that Jesus’ blood has already washed away. Don’t let satan fool you into thinking he has dug them up out of the sea. No way. We walk by faith, not by sight. Walk by faith that Jesus has forgiven and forgotten. Don’t keep digging up the past which hinders us from prospering in the future. In these mortal bodies, we die daily praying continually for God’s forgiveness and strength as we grow daily. I know the Easter season on the calendar has just passed, but praise God the Easter meaning and message lives on in us every day of the year.
