Connection is Necessary

written on December 5, 2016

Thoughts:  We try to keep a cellphone battery charger handy at all times to prevent our cell phones from going dead.  If the charger breaks or we lose it, it is a necessity to replace it.  If the phone goes dead, it is with a sense of urgency that we seek out an outlet or source to charge it.  When we travel, we seek out an outlet. We sometimes position ourselves to sit near an outlet or inquire beforehand if there are any outlets.  I was on the road headed south and bought a car charger from a side store because the importance of me having a connection to contact someone or have access to information was of vital importance to me.  It could be life or death…stranded on the side of the road.  Connection is necessary.

Well, how many of us feel the same about having a connection with Jesus?  Are we concerned about being connected spiritually?  Do we feel the same need for Jesus?  Do we understand that it is a life or death situation?  We need Jesus to survive.  We need Jesus to make it to heaven.  We need Jesus for eternal life.  We need Jesus.  Do we feel at least the same sense or more of urgency to seek Jesus when we feel too disconnected from Jesus’ will?  Are we like Paul who said, Lord whatever you do, don’t take your holy spirit away from me?  Are we like the song that says…take me back, take me back dear Lord to the place where I first believed you?
