“It’s In The Journey”

There is nothing more important than giving your life to Christ because this secures your soul’s eternal resting place. Dust to dust goes our body. But the soul does not go to dust. God breathed the breath of life in us, and when this body ceases to exist, the soul has to live somewhere eternally. There are only 2 places to reside ultimately: heaven or hell. There is no in between. It’s the finality of things that are hard to chew for me. For example, my dad passed and it’s the knowing that he is never coming back home on this side. If I think he’s just away on vacation or something and will return someday, I would feel better. But actually knowing that he will never walk through the door again is more heartbreaking.
This is how final your eternal destination is. Once we die…the breath leaves our bodies for good, then our eternal destination is already sealed. How? Where our eternal resting place is dependent on our earthly preparation. Do we have soul insurance? Did we accept Christ into our lives to allow God’s spirit to rule in us to be a Christian? The song says If you live right, heaven belongs to you.
It is in the journey. Don’t go through life thinking I’ll just make it to the final destination and not pay attention to how you conduct yourself to get there. It’s all in the journey. Naturally so, many people have dreams and goals but then their life is cut short in the midst of the journey (seemingly before they make it to their planned destination as far as work achievement or other things). But we should realize that achievement is the entire journey. Don’t disregard people, backbite, lie, cheat, kill people’s influence and reputation, etc. trying to make it to the top, because then you’ve already failed before you reach your planned destination. We MUST live right. Philippians 4:8 says “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are
lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there
be any praise, think on these things.”
The BIBLE is our roadmap. If we lose our natural life while journeying along the roadmap, it’s okay because with Jesus we are already winners. Luke 23:43 says “And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.” Hebrews 3:15 says “…To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.” Joshua 24:15 says “…choose you this day whom ye will serve;” Isaiah 55:6-7 says “Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.” John 9:4 says “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.” Romans 13:11 says “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.” Don’t let it be said too late.
My dad loved this song: “I pray we’ll all be ready.” I miss my dad.
