Seek God’s Direction

Scripture: Philippians 4:6-9
6 Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
This is a formula. Follow it for success. Just like a math equation yields a specific answer (2+2=4). When faced with life situations, don’t be anxious, making hasty decisions. But rather be diligent in seeking God’s direction through his word and through prayer to make the right decisions to be sure we are always doing the will of God. Then God’s peace will keep us in him guarding our heart and mind.
As referenced in verse 9, can someone learn or receive or hear from or see in us the ways of Jesus always? Don’t just say we love the Lord. Believe him and want to do his will. Let our actions speak it. Faith without works is dead. Does everything we do, the way we act, our attitudes and emotions say we love Jesus, believe him, and want to obey him? If we are serious about serving the Lord and diligently seek him, he will make a way for us to do it. We must give up our will to want to go our own way and do our own thing and be our own boss and follow our own commandments. There is a way that seems right unto man, but of the end there is destruction.
Follow God’s way no matter what it looks like. What legacy or path are we leaving for someone to follow? Our works will follow us. The miracle is that no matter what sin we have committed in life, if we give our life to Christ, he will wipe our slate clean and start us on a new path to leave for others to follow. Thank you Jesus.
