Thank You Jesus, My Light out of Darkness
written on Sunday, May 11, 2014
This morning I read John 1:1-9
While reading this passage I thought about a man standing in a dark room trapped because he cannot see his way out. He cannot find the doorway out because he is blinded by darkness. Then someone lets him know that a light is coming soon to shine into the dark room so he will be able to see the doorway. The man has a new-found hope, attitude and outlook. He stops moping and complaining because he believes his trouble won’t last always. I was that person blinded by the darkness of sin, blinded from the truth of righteousness. Then one day I heard the word of the Lord that Jesus loves me and came to save me from the darkness of sin. The light was beginning to shine because the Word is God and God is the light that shines in darkness. God’s grace allowed me to be susceptible to the word and opened my blinded eyes and closed mind to understand that Jesus was that light that came as a part of the salvation plan to shine in this dark sinful world so that we could see our way out of this mess and get on the path to glory.
The light will shine, but when you’re able to see it, take advantage of the opportunity to see your way out. “The day you hear my voice, harden not your heart.” Your day of understanding…your day of determination to flee satan’s lies, deceit, bluffing and mirages of grandeur that lead to destruction…your Damascus road experience…your day while you are still able to make a decision. Seek the Lord, while he may be found. Everyone does not get the same opportunities to accept the Lord. If you’re reading this, you have the opportunity to confess your sins and accept Christ into your life so that you can be reunited with your maker and live with him in eternity. Get insurance for your soul today. We did not come into this world to stay. We will all leave here one day and we must make preparation for our soul’s eternal rest while we are still alive on this side. It will be too late to prepare later. You cannot prepare for the hereafter in the hereafter. You must prepare for the hereafter now. I close with one of my favorite scriptures, Psalm 51:10:
This is my prayer.
